DALLAS - The Jesuit Dallas basketball team opened upa big lead early and never looked back, defeating Nimitz 62-38 to clinch a UIL postseason berth on Tuesday night at Walsh Gym.
Jesuit improved to 15-13 overall and 8-4 in District 7-6A action. The Rangers are also 8-1 in their last 9 games and host Irving on Friday for Senior Night. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
The Rangers clinched a playoff berth and now can play for seeding with two regular-season games remaining.
Jesuit opened the game on a 16-2 run and shot 51 percent in the contest - 58 percent over the first three quarters. The Blue and Gold also made nine 3-pointers.
Senior
Justin Fern led three players in double figures, scoring 13 points with three triples. Cooper Jenson had 12 points, six rebounds two assists and two steals in 12 minutes off the bench.
Pierce Popelka had 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Ayden Spears had 17 points and five rebounds to lead the Vikings.
