DALLAS -
Jacob Martinez and
Hudson Voss combined for a no-hitter and the Jesuit Dallas offense was locked in over the final two innings for a 13-0 win over Irving at Wright Field on Friday.
Jesuit (10-6-2, 2-0) swept the 2-game week from the Tigers (2-12-1, 0-2) to open District 7-6A action with a pair of no-hitters.
Martinez (1-2) struck out seven of the 14 batters he faced while getting four ground outs and a fly out for his first win over the season. His past two performances have been very solid as he has fanned seven in each outing and allowed just two runs with a win and a no decision in a complete-game tie. Voss hit one batter and struck out two as he closed out the game in the fifth.
After a scoreless first and second innings, the Ranger offense came alive in the third, scoring five runs, including a 2-run home run to left by
Brooks Kowal to get the team rolling. It was his third long ball of the season. Jesuit added eight in the fourth, including three on a
Robbie Ruiz single that got past the right field and rolled to the warning track.
The Rangers finished with seven total extra-base hits as
Braxton Barber,
Preston Farragut,
Taylor Haddock,
Nate Iannariello with two and
Max Reichstadt all had doubles.
Jesuit will be back in action with two games next week against J.J. Pearce. The Rangers and Mustangs will meet Tuesday at Pearce and Thursday at Jesuit. Both gamess are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
