IRVING, Texas - Jesuit Dallas senior
Sebastian Lasa struck out 10 and threw a no-hitter in a 22-1 road victory over Irving in the district opener for both teams on Monday.
Lasa faced 17 Tigers and finished with 42 strikes in 75 pitches. The only run he allowed came in the third inning on a passed ball.
Jesuit (9-6-2, 1-0) pounded out 16 hits with six doubles and a home run. Irving (2-8-1, 0-1) committed three errors and walked nine batters.
Five different players had a 2-hit game, including
Braxton Barber who was 2-for-3 with a a home run, three RBI and scored twice.
After Barber led off the game with a long ball to right, the Rangers plated 13 in the second inning to put the game away. Each team had a run in the third and Jesuit added seven more in the fourth.
James Jorgenson drove in three and also had two hits.
Davis Montgomery and
Jacob Martinez each had two doubles on the night.
The Rangers and Tigers will meet again on Friday night at Wright Field on the Jesuit campus. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
