Taylor Haddock drove in four and
Jacob Martinez struck out five in a complete game as Jesuit Dallas defeated Arlington Lamar, 13-4, in the first game of a 3-game UIL Bi-District round series at the Grand Prairie HS Baseball Field on Wednesday.
Jesuit (25-7-2) will host the second game at Wright Field on campus on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Rangers scored in five of the seven innings, with 4-run outbursts in the fifth and seventh. JCP pounded out 16 hits - including six doubles - as eight of the nine starters had at least one.Â
Roman Derichsweiler led the way with three hits, while Haddock,
Braxton Barber,
Brooks Kowal,
Nate Iannariello and
Davis Montgomery all had two each.
Haddock's 3-run double inside the bag at third in the fifth broke the game open as Jesuit took a 9-3 lead on the play. Lamar had pulled to within 5-3 with three runs in the previous inning.Â
Martinez (7-2) tossed his third complete game of the season as he won his seventh-consecutive start. He scattered six hits and walked three while allowing three earned runs.Â
