DALLAS -
James Jorgensen struck out a career-high 17 and drove in a run to lead Jesuit Dallas to a 3-0 victory over Arlington Lamar at Wright Field on Thursday. The victory completed a sweep of the best of 3 series in the Bi-District round of the University Interscholastic League 6A Division 2 Playoffs.
Jorgensen allowed just one hit and four total baserunners to improve to 6-0 on the season. He took the no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out every Viking at least once.
The Rangers scored two in the first inning on a Jorgensen sac fly and a
Nate Iannariello single. They added the third run on a
Taylor Haddock bloop single in the fourth.
Davis Montgomery had two hits to lead a group of seven different Rangers with a hit, including
Brooks Kowal and
Roman Derichsweiler who extended their hitting streaks to 16 and 14 games, respectively.
Jesuit improved to 26-7-2 while Lamar ends the season at 10-21-1.
Jesuit advances to the Area Round where it awaits the McKinney Boyd-Denton Guyer winner.
