RICHARDSON, Texas - Jesuit Cycling had a good night in their first race of the new school year with Nicholas Carter '28 showcasing his summer of training and racing in Belgium by winning the 40-minute-long category 3/4 'B' race. He raced an aggressive race by attacking several times, including one early attack that started solo and then ended up as a two-man breakaway for a few laps before being caught by the field. Carter then went on the attack again just after the midway point of the race and spent a couple laps solo before a chase group of seven caught up to him forming an 8-person breakaway group. In the final lap, with one rider holding a small lead off the front of the breakaway, Carter patiently got into position sliding from the fourth up into the second wheel in the break to set-up for the sprint, which started just as they were catching the lone rider coming out of the final corner. The Ranger junior was then able to win a close sprint yelling in exuberance as he beat his breakaway companions proving he was the strongest racer in the race.

Meanwhile, Wesley Tavares '29 flexed his summer training with a couple of strong performances fresh off his upgrade from category 5 to category 4. After beating two Highland Park racers to be the first junior u19 racer across the line (and 10th overall) in the night's first race, the 25 minute long 'C' race, Tavares contested the longer and faster 40-minute category 3/4 'B' race for his first time and was able to finish in the middle of the pack for 16th. Jesuit cycling's other sophomore, Austin Dourty '29, finished the 'C' race in the pack, which was enough to secure 4th in the junior u19 race.
