Dalton Walters ’16 Repeats at 2026 National Championships

8/28/2026 5:47:00 PM

Jesuit Dallas alumnus and USA Cycling team member Dalton Walters '16 maintained his dominance on the track after defending all four of his titles at the 2026 Elite Track National Championships hosted at the VELO Sports Center in Carson, Calif. Walters opened his near-flawless week with a first-place finish in the men's sprint, and followed that performance by securing gold medals in the men's kilometer time trial, men's keirin, and men's team sprint events.

Walters, who races for Turbo Velo Cycling, outdueled Paul Wyatt (Water Line Racing) in the three-lap sprint final and the six-lap keirin. In the finals of the men's keirin, Walters posted an average speed of 67.765 km/h to finish 0.126 seconds ahead of Wyatt and 0.243 seconds in front of U23 national champion, Finn Koller.

Walters' victory in the keirin was made more special by the fact he was wearing a specialty Jesuit Dallas-branded aero suit as he claimed national gold.

In the 1000-meter time trial finals, Walters moved up from third position after the opening lap before finishing in 1:02.341 and registering another narrow victory, this time over David Domonoske of Alto Velo. He closed out his incredible week by joining with Joshua Hartman and Sterling Reneau for a wire-to-wire victory in the men's team sprint.

Walters, who is pursuing qualification for the next Olympic Games, has won eight national titles on the track over the past two seasons.
