The Rangers swept the district tournament, hosted by Jesuit Wednesday and Thursday at Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton.
The 'Jesuit A' team took first place while the 'Jesuit B' team took second, and the Rangers also secured all 12 individual berths to the Regional tournament in Waco. Jesuit's A side of J.C. Campbell,
Martin Breedijk,
Chase Fetrow,
Camden Suhy, and
Will Peavy shot a team total of 311 on Wednesday and 310 on Thursday (two-day total of 621) to secure the district championship. Jesuit's B side of
Ross Frick,
Joe Velasquez,
David Seagram,
Patrick Tehan, and
Austin Holtz earned second by shooting a 323 on Wednesday and a 350 on Thursday (two-day total of 673). Individuals
Grant Frye,
Bryan Garner, and
Sean Dougherty played separately from the team, and were the top three scorers among golfers in that category.
"I am extremely proud of the way the entire team played in the district tournament, and all year. They played great golf and represented Jesuit well," said head coach
Cathy Marino. "I am very excited to see what this group can accomplish at the Region II Tournament."
J.C. Campbell took home the District 9-6A Individual Championship with a consistently strong tournament, shooting a 75 on both days. His two-day total of 150 beat out teammate and Jesuit sophomore
Martin Breedijk by two strokes.
Chase Fetrow earned third by shooting a 78/79 (157), and Jesuit's
Camden Suhy and
Will Peavy tied for fourth, as both shot a consist 81/81 (162). Those golfers will be joined by Frick, Velasquez, Seagram, Tehan, Holtz, Frye, and Garner as the full Jesuit contingent at the Region II Tournament held April 13-14 at Cottonwood Creek in Waco.
