Jesuit Dallas Closes Regular Season with Battle Against Top-Ranked Richardson

Jesuit Dallas gave the state's top-ranked team a handful on Tuesday at Walsh Gym, taking a lead over Richardson with 1:06 remaining in the first quarter, but the Eagles were able to pull away in the fourth quarter and secure an 82-61 win over the Rangers. Entering the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in District 7-6A, the Rangers will take on Arlington Martin in the Region I-6A Bi-District round on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

Senior Ryan McCormick secured another double-double, scoring 21 points and adding 11 rebounds. McCormick has secured five double-doubles on the season and ended the standard campaign with four 20-point outings, finishing Tuesday's contest 9-of-12 from the floor. Junior Tai Kryger scored 11 points, senior Ben Johnson added 10 points on the night, seniors Sky Tschurr and Grant Kostos contributed six points apiece, junior Owen Berry notched five points and two points from senior Will Mansour wrapped the Rangers' scorers.

The Rangers were wildly efficient from the field during the game, shooting 55 percent from the floor during the first three quarters. However, Richardson outscored Jesuit, 31-14 in the first quarter, shooting a 72 percent clip in the quarter to pull away from the Rangers over the waning moments of the contest.

Jesuit will turn its attention to the postseason, as the Rangers will compete in their 13th postseason in the last 14 years. This year's bi-district matchup will be a rematch from the 2021 bi-district round, when Jesuit defeated Martin, 76-64, on Feb. 23 en route to securing the senior regional championship appearance in program history. Martin closed the regular season with a 24-7 overall record, placing second in District 8-6A with a 10-2 mark in league play. The Warriors enter the postseason on a four-game winning streak after ending the regular season with a 69-51 win over Arlington Sam Houston on Feb. 15.
