The Rangers forced 16 turnovers while holding MacArthur to 31.7 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent from three-point range, securing a 56-36 win over the Cardinals on Friday in Irving. The victory improves Jesuit's district record to 7-5 heading into the final four games of the regular season.
Sophomore
Caleb Steger led the charge for the Blue and Gold with 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while seniors
Charlie Needham and
Owen Berry secured 10 and nine points, respectively. Junior
Will Bronson scored eight points, junior
Hank Gramlich added three points and the tandem of seniors
Dylan Gibbons,
Tai Kryger,
Hampton Aldridge and sophomore
Michael Grant added two points apiece. Aldridge would tack on seven rebounds, Gibbons would lead the team with four assists and Kryger secured a team-high three steals.
Jesuit scored 32 points in the paint, out-rebounded MacArthur, 42-29 and secured 18 second-chance points off of 17 offensive rebounds.
The Rangers will return to action on Friday, when the Blue and Gold will travel to Richardson to take on Berkner. Jesuit will look to complete a season sweep of the Rams following a 63-53 win at Walsh Gym on Jan. 3. Jesuit will return to Walsh Gym for the final three games of the season, beginning with a home game against Nimitz (Feb. 7) followed by matchups against Highland Park (Feb. 10) and Richardson (Feb. 14).
