Jesuit Enters Postseason After Strong Close to Season
The Rangers enter Tuesday's postseason bout against Rowlett after going 3-1 to end the regular season. Despite a 75-65 setback against Skyline on Feb. 14, Jesuit has out-scored opponents, 69.8-58.8 since Feb. 3, capturing major wins over fellow playoff qualifiers Berkner and Richardson. Jesuit went 5-2 during the second circuit of District 9-6A play to capture second place.

No. 3 Skyline Edges Rangers in Regular Season Finale
A pair of 20-point scorers put Jesuit within striking distance, but Texas state-ranked no. 3 Skyline derailed the Rangers' upset bid, 75-65, in the regular season finale for both teams at Skyline High School. Senior Mitch Prendergast scored 23 points, followed closely behind by junior Michael Jankovich, who scored 22 points for the Rangers. Junior Marcus Hill closed the trio of Jesuit shooters with double-digit outings, tacking on 10 points to the effort. The Rangers' 65 points were the most allowed by the Raiders this season.

Cleaning the Glass
A recent influx of impressive team performances sends the Rangers into the postseason with a slight rebounding average over their 2016-17 foes. Jesuit posted 30 or more rebounds 15 times, led by a season-high 50 boards against W.T. White on Feb. 10. Three Rangers have dragged down 100 or more rebounds this season, led by 131 total boards by junior Marcus Hill. Senior Jeff Grimes currently ranks second with 111, followed by 108 rebounds pulled down by junior Reid Hatzmann. Out of the team's 877 total rebounds this year, thirty percent (263) have come on the offensive end.

Scouting Rowlett
Ranked No. 43 in the state according to MaxPreps, four of the Eagles' six losses this season came against Lakeview Centennial and South Garland, the first and second place teams, respectively, in District 10-6A. Entering Tuesday with a 21-6 record, Rowlett is on a two-game winning streak but has not played since Feb. 10, when the Eagles upended North Garland, 89-65. Junior forward Braden Bell stands at 6-feet 6-inches, and averages 14.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this year, while fellow third year Joel Murray averages 14.1 points and 3.3 assists. Junior post player Devin Mitchell averages 6.1 boards per game, and will be a formidable frontcourt foe at 6-foot 8-inches.

Breaking Down the Matchup
Both squads' scoring offense ranks among the best in the Metroplex, with Rowlett's 65.5 points per game ranking 16th in the area while Jesuit currently ranks 20th (64.8). Rowlett is 4-0 on the year against common opponents, sweeping a pair of games against Plano East, upending Lewisville, 60-55 early in the year and most notably toppling Richardson, 61-55 on Dec. 16.

Up Next
The winner of Tuesday's game will go on to face the winner of The Woodlands and Mesquite Horn, scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday from Fairfield, Texas.
