District Champion Rangers Head into Postseason: Jesuit Dallas enters the postseason ranked fourth in the state after capturing a share of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A Championship with a 70-56 win over McKinney Boyd on Feb. 12. Jesuit ended the regular season with a 27-5 record, and opens the playoffs on a six-game winning streak and a 7-2 mark at neutral site locations. The Rangers averaged 67.9 points per game over the regular season, closing the year with an average margin of victory of 13.9-points.
Seniors Leading Charge for Determined Ranger Squad: Four members of the Jesuit Dallas basketball team enter the postseason averaging double digits in scoring. Senior Max Abmas, an Oral Roberts University commit, leads the charge with 19.7 points and 3.8 assists per game, while shooting 41 percent from three-point range. Fellow fourth year Julius Marble averages 16.0 points on 55.8 percent shooting from the floor while racking up 9.3 rebounds per game, and a team-high 38 blocks.
Sachse Enters Postseason after Turnaround Campaign: The Mustangs return to the postseason for the first time since 2016 after finishing the regular season with an 18-14 record and an 8-6 district record. Head coach Zach Mikesell has orchestrated a complete turnaround in his first season on the sidelines, taking a team which concluded the 2017-18 season with a 2-22 record, and setting a new program record for victories in a single season. The Mustangs earned a statement-making, 66-63 win over Plano West on Dec. 14 and defeated district foe Wylie, 63-62 on Jan. 15 courtesy of a buzzer-beating three-pointer from sophomore Dylan McKeon to account for two of their key victories this season.
Up Next: The winner of Tuesday night's contest will face either Killeen Ellison or Longview in the UIL Area Round. Ellison is the second-seed out of 12-6A with an 11-3 district record, while Longview enters the postseason with a 7-5 district mark, finishing in third place at UIL District 11-6A. The two teams will meet at Fairfield H.S. for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Feb. 19.
