Hall of Fame
Part of a long line of distinguished soccer standouts at Jesuit Dallas, Chris Helling helped lead the Rangers to the TCIL State Championship in 1983, 1984 and 1986. During his time donning the Blue and Gold, Jesuit boasted a cumulative record of 51-10-4, including a dazzling campaign in 1986 during which the team yielded just eight goals all season en route to a 17-2 record.
As a senior captain, Helling guided Jesuit to the prestigious Meinster Tournament Championship, the North Texas Private School Conference Championship, and the program’s third state crown in four years. Following the team’s record-breaking season in 1986, Helling was named TCIL All-State in addition to plaudits as a standout on the U.S. Youth Soccer Premier League Region III team. As a result of making numerous select teams, he toured Scotland and England while nearly earning a spot on the U.S. Junior National Team.
Following graduation, Helling took his talents to Stanford, where he was a four-year letter-winner and three-year starter for the Cardinal. While at Stanford, Helling started 57 games, recorded 17 shutouts, and finished his career with an impressive 1.14 goals against average. In addition to his athletic prowess, Helling was named to the Stanford Athletic Honor Roll three straight years.Â
