One of the most prolific wide receivers in the annals of Texas high school football, Jake Oliver ended his historic career with a Texas state-record 308 receptions, 4,567 yards and 56 touchdowns. Numerous accolades followed Oliver from his high school career to the University of Texas, where he emerged as a key contributor for the Longhorns during the 2016 season.

Oliver began his Jesuit Dallas career by earning a spot on the varsity roster as a freshman, finishing the year with 274 yards and two touchdowns before erupting onto the scene in 2010, earning ESPN and MaxPreps Sophomore All-America honors after catching 85 passes for 1,302 yards and 13 touchdowns.

After beginning his junior season with three straight 200-yard receiving games, Oliver secured his third All-American designation and second all-state honor with another 1,000 yard season, racking up 108 receptions for 1,637 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Oliver’s senior year cemented his status as one of the top wide receivers in Texas high school football history, as he broke the state record for career pass receptions during a 15-catch, 174-yard performance against Lake Highlands on Oct. 21, 2011.

To cap his final season at Jesuit, Oliver earned the prestigious Landry Award in 2012, which is presented to the top football student-athlete in North Texas. He was also selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was named to the 2013 Parade All-American team alongside his third TSWA All-State award.

Oliver continued his playing career at the University of Texas, where he caught 33 receptions for 358 yards in 19 games for the Longhorns. His junior season for the Longhorns was jumpstarted by a 36-yard performance against Notre Dame, setting up the Longhorns for a 50-47 upset win over the No. 10-ranked Fighting Irish. Oliver would finish the year ranking second on the team in receptions.

Leaving a lasting legacy on the gridiron, Oliver’s career reception mark at Jesuit ranked second in the nation following the conclusion of his career, and currently ranks second across all divisions in Texas. In addition, he ranks inside the top six all-time in career receiving yards and career receiving touchdowns.
