Stanley Hupfeld played four years of varsity football and lettered twice in track at Jesuit, piling up press clippings and accolades along the way. Earning multiple All-State honors, Hupfeld authored back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing season while accounting for a third of Jesuit’s points.

The Rangers made it to the TCIL state title game in each of Hupfeld’s four seasons and had won two championships before his arrival at Jesuit, falling one point short of winning six consecutive TCIL crowns when they lost, 7-6, in the championship tilt his senior year. In track, Hupfeld was part of the 440-yard relay team that took top honors at the TCIL state meet.

After Jesuit, Hupfeld played collegiate football at the University of Texas and was a member of the Longhorns’ 1963 national championship unit that capped an 11-0 unbeaten season with a victory over Navy in the Cotton Bowl.
