A three-time TCIL All-State selection in baseball and two-time TCIL All-State pick in basketball, Morrison’s defining moment as a student-athlete came in the 1987 TCIL State Baseball Championship, where he hit a game-winning two-run homerun to lead Jesuit Dallas part St. Thomas (Houston).

Morrison was a starting centerfielder and shortstop for the Rangers, boasting a .453 career batting average. As a senior, he was among the DFW area leaders in stolen bases, runs and RBI’s and was named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area Team. He earned three straight all-state honors (1986-88) while helping propel Jesuit to a pair of state titles (1985 and 1987).

Morrison also was part of the 1986 TCIL State Championship in basketball. He earned TCIL All-State accolades in both 1987 and 1988, while his senior campaign included selections to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team and Catholic All-American. During his last season donning the Blue and Gold, Morrison averaged 23.1 points and 7.2 assists per game, ranking among the DFW area leaders in both categories.

Morrison signed with the University of Texas-Pan American, where he started in centerfield all four years and was named 1992 First Team All-Sun Belt Conference. During his junior season, he recorded an unassisted triple play, which will always stand in the NCAA record books for an outfielder.
