Mike Bulger and his teammates won the TCIL football championship four years in a row (1956-1959). He started and played every down at left guard for four years. He was voted best blocker by his teammates in 1958 and 1959. He punted for the 1958-1959 teams, averaging 40 yards a kick his senior year. Bulger also played every down defensively his senior year at strong linebacker and personally called all defensive alignments on the field. Bulger was a two-time TCIL All-State selection (1958 and 1959); All-Greater Dallas (Dallas Morning News, 1959); and Honorable Mention (Football Honor Roll, Dallas Times Herald, 1959). He was given the “Troy Post Award” in 1959 by Dallas Optimist Club and was selected Dallas County Senior Representative by the Rotary International in 1959.
 
Bulger attended SMU on a football scholarship, and later returned to Jesuit working under Gary Pasqua as coach from 1965-1975.
