An all-around athlete while at Jesuit, Louis Balady earned nine varsity letters: four in track, three in football, and two in soccer. He was a two-time high point award winner at the TCIL Track & Field Championships, twice winning the long jump, and adding a victory in the pole vault as a senior. Louis also earned all-state honors in soccer, scoring a then single-season record 17 goals for the Rangers as a junior while being named to the Dallas Morning News All-Second Team.

As the team captain and Team MVP for the Rangers in football, Louis started at quarterback, and as the team’s punter averaged 42.3 yards per kick. Although he was recruited in three sports, Louis accepted a football scholarship to Rice University. He earned Southwest Conference Player of the Week honors during both his junior and senior seasons and was team captain his senior year.

After college, Louis signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s San Diego Chargers but played only one season.
