A three-year varsity letterman in soccer, Rob Snyder never played on a losing team in his Jesuit career. Snyder started at center-forward and led the Rangers in scoring in 1979 and 1980. Having played alongside his brother Rick (’79) on his first two TCIL state championship teams, Snyder was twice elected all-district, all-state and TCIL State Tournament MVP.

Snyder was a member of the Texas State Olympic Development team in soccer, and earned three letters in tennis in addition to serving as captain of the cheerleading squad.

After graduating from Jesuit Dallas with high honors, Snyder played at the University of Notre Dame as a forward on the Fighting Irish soccer team. He had the distinction of starting as a freshman and co-led the team in scoring that year. At the time of his graduation, Snyder ranked second all-time at Notre Dame in career assists (22) and was tied for fourth in career points (23 goals, 68 points).

Entering the University of Texas Law School in 1984, Snyder played for the Austin Sockadillos for the first two years of the U.S. Indoor Soccer League and coached the Texas men’s soccer team. In 2002, he was awarded Notre Dame’s Mike Berticelli Award, recognizing excellence in individual achievement among the alumni of its soccer program.
