Scott Jones leveraged an outstanding prep career at Jesuit Dallas by authoring a Hall of Fame collegiate stint, selection to the Puerto Rican National Team, and a distinguished professional career that spanned both Puerto Rico and Major League Soccer (MLS).

At Jesuit, Jones was a member of the 2000 TCIL State Championship team, earned all-state honors, and was a two-time Elite Soccer Program First Team All-Star (2000, 2001). Taking his talents to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Jones burst onto the scene in 2003 with a breakout campaign that yielded Southern Conference (SoCon) Freshman of the Year honors. Named twice to the Hermann Award watch list as college soccer’s best player, Jones secured his first two All-America honors following his junior year by being named to the NSCAA All-America first team and College Soccer News All-America second team in 2005 before securing a NSCAA All-America third team designation during his senior year.

Referenced by UNCG as “one of the greatest all-around players to ever play for the Spartans,” Jones became the first player in Spartan history to earn four all-conference first team honors, finishing his career ranked fifth in program history with 41 assists, while also adding 25 goals. Jones was instrumental in helping UNCG capture a pair of SoCon Championships (2005, 2006) while earning three berths to the NCAA Tournament. In 2006, Jones scored game-winning goals against Virginia Tech and West Virginia to propel the Spartans to the Sweet 16. At the conclusion of his college career, Jones, who was presented with the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal, was enshrined in the UNCG Soccer Wall of Honor.

From 2004-06, Jones competed for the Carolina Dynamo of the United Soccer League (USL), appearing in 32 games and scoring eight goals. In 2007, he was selected with the 28th overall pick of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Superdraft by FC Dallas, jump-starting a nine-year professional career that included a five-year run with the Puerto Rico Islanders (USL). In 2010, Jones helped lead the Islanders to the Commissioner’s Cup (regular season championship) and Caribbean Club Championship.

Jones was selected to the Puerto Rican National Team in 2011, and he earned his first cap during a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification stage match against Saint Kits and Nevis. Jones concluded his career with 95 professional appearances.
