A stalwart defender and cornerstone for the Jesuit Dallas frontcourt, Chris Udofia’s accolade-filled career led to a record-breaking turn at the University of Denver, and prominence among the professional ranks at Liga Leumit in Israel and the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Following up a tremendous junior season after which he earned district Defensive Player of the Year honors, Udofia was named the 2010 District 8-5A MVP and earned a spot on the TABC All-Region team as a senior after guiding the Blue & Gold to the district championship and a 27-6 record.
After graduation, the two-time all-district first team selection signed with the University of Denver where he would be honored with a pair of conference Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2012 and 2014. A three-time all-conference first team and two-time NABC all-district team selection, Udofia ended his Denver career as the program leader in blocks (256), tied the record for most games played (124), ranked sixth in total points (1,501), and ranked in the top 10 for career field goals made (551), free-throws made (334), assists (349), and steals (141).
Udofia was tabbed as Denver’s top defensive player during all four years of his collegiate career, and in 2012-13 led the Summit League while ranking 30th in the nation in blocks. In addition, Udofia was a three-time recipient of the Floyd M. Theard Jr. Memorial Award, an award presented to a Pioneer basketball student-athlete who “best displays the qualities of leadership and scholarship.” He was named the Denver University Co-Athlete of the Year in 2012 before securing the award outright in 2013. The 2013-14 season also saw Udofia earn selection as one of 60 men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes across the country to be named as a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
After college, Udofia inked a summer league deal with the Houston Rockets before signing with Elitzur Yvane of Liga Leumit (Israel). During his lone season of competition in Israel, Udofia averaged 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. Udofia was signed by the Golden State Warriors in October 2015 before being assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G-League where he appeared in 45 games while averaging 4.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
