Under coaches Lank Smith, Bill Durick, Fr. J.J. May SJ, and Edo Biasatti, Bob earned First Team All- State honors at tight end. In addition, he was named to the Dallas Times Herald All-Greater Dallas Second Team and received an Honorable Mention as a Catholic High School All-American from the Chicago Tribune.

Under Coach Bill Durick, Bob was the leading scorer for the 1954 and 1955 basketball teams. A First Team  All-Stater, Bob also received First Team All- Tournament honors for the 1955 TCIL State Championship.

Turning down football scholarship offers from Tulane and the Citadel, Bob chose to walk-on at Texas A&M, who was then coached by Bear Bryant. After six weeks of “tackling John David Crow everyday” Bob tried out for, and won, the last spot on the freshman basketball team.

In 1960, Bob and his wife, Jeannette, moved to Denison and went into the alcoholic beverage business. After selling his business in 1982, Bob became a wholesale distributor for both the Lone Star and Pearl breweries.

A member of St. Patrick Church in Denison, he has served on the church’s school board, its building committee, and presently on the finance committee. He spent five years on the Board of Directors of the Denison County Country Club as well. Bob and his wife have two sons, Bob Jr. and Mitch ’86 and a daughter Robbin as well as grandchildren.
