Jack Harper was a left-handed pitcher and three-year letterman in baseball at Jesuit. He threw three no hitters including the first no-hitter in the history of the TCIL state tournament. In his senior year, he served as captain and was named MVP. Harper was selected as the pitcher on the All-Greater Dallas Team in both his junior (1957) and senior (1958) years and was TCIL All-State both seasons as well. During his senior year, he was selected to play for the United States in the World Series of Amateur Baseball in Mexico City.

Harper will be remembered as one of the leaders of Jesuit’s summer American Legion team that competed with the large Dallas Public Schools in 1957. He averaged 11 strikeouts giving up an average of only two hits per game in leading Jesuit to the city and regional championships.

Harper was a member of the honors class all four years at Jesuit and was a National Merit Semifinalist. After graduation, he attended Southern Methodist University on a baseball scholarship.
